Writing with AI

Documents and Sources

Upload your organization's Word and PDF documents so Boost can use them as background when drafting grant content.

Why upload documents

Boost writes stronger, more accurate drafts when it has real information about your organization to work from. As the Documents page puts it: “Upload any documents you want to be able to reference later as you’re applying to different opportunities. We’ll use this information to make recommendations, and you’ll be able to reference it whenever.”

Good documents to upload include past grant proposals, annual reports, program descriptions, budgets, and impact reports.

Uploading a document

  1. Go to the Documents tab.
  2. Click Upload Document.
  3. Click Pick a file and choose a file from your computer. Supported file types are PDF, DOC, and DOCX, up to 5MB. Word documents are automatically converted to PDF format.
  4. If you want everyone on your team to be able to use this document, turn on Share with organization. Otherwise it stays private to you.
  5. Click Upload.

You’ll see a confirmation that the document was uploaded successfully, and it will appear in your document list shortly after. In the background, Boost reads and summarizes the document so it can pull relevant details into your drafts.

Browsing and searching your documents

  1. On the Documents page, switch between a grid view and a list view using the icons above your document list.
  2. Use the Search box to find a document by name.
  3. Click a document’s thumbnail or name to preview it.

Sharing a document with your organization

If you uploaded a document privately but want your team to be able to use it too (or vice versa), open the document and toggle Share with organization on or off. Shared documents move into your organization’s shared document library, where any teammate can reference them when drafting with Boost.

Removing a document

  1. Open the document, or click the three-dot menu next to it in your document list.
  2. Click Delete.
  3. Confirm that you want to delete the document.

Deleting a document removes it from your library and from anything Boost references going forward.

Keeping documents within the AI context limit

Boost can only reference a certain number of documents (along with your sources and saved answers) at once when drafting. If you’ve uploaded more than that limit, you’ll see a warning banner letting you know how many documents are being left out of the AI’s context, so you can remove older or less relevant ones to make room.
