The Grant Matcher continuously searches for opportunities and scores them against your organization's profile, so you find the best fits fast.
What the Grant Matcher does
Once your organization profile is filled out (mission, focus area, location, and grant criteria), Grantboost searches for grant opportunities and matches them against your profile. Each match is scored so you can quickly see how strong a fit it is, and results are organized into tabs on the Grant Opportunities page.
The more complete your profile is, the better your matches will be. If your profile is missing details, you’ll see a note near the top of the page such as “Profile 60% — add details to improve matches,” which links to Settings so you can fill in the gaps.
Browsing grant tabs
The Grant Opportunities page organizes results into these tabs:
- Open — Grants that are currently accepting applications.
- Upcoming — Grants Grantboost has matched to your profile but whose application window hasn’t opened yet.
- Saved — Grants you’ve bookmarked to revisit later.
- Dismissed — Grants you’ve marked as not relevant.
- All My Grants — Every grant associated with your project, across all the statuses above.
- Browse Grant Database — The full pool of grant opportunities Grantboost has found, whether or not they’ve been matched to your profile.
Each tab shows a count badge with the number of grants inside it.
Currently open vs. upcoming grants
- Currently Open grants are actively accepting applications right now — their application window has started and their deadline hasn’t passed.
- Upcoming grants are opportunities Grantboost has already matched to your profile, but the application window hasn’t opened yet. Keep an eye on these — they’ll move to Open once applications begin.
If a grant doesn’t have a fixed deadline, Grantboost displays it as “Open Enrollment” instead of a date, meaning it accepts applications on a rolling basis.
Occasionally Grantboost isn’t able to confirm a deadline with certainty. In that case you’ll see a warning: “We were unable to verify the deadline for this grant. Please check the opportunity page to confirm it is still accepting applications.”
What’s shown for each grant opportunity
Every grant card or table row includes:
- Funder — the organization offering the grant.
- Grant Title — the name of the opportunity.
- Description — a short summary of what the grant funds.
- Amount — the funding amount, shown as a dollar figure.
- Deadline — the application deadline (or “Open Enrollment” if there isn’t one).
Opening a grant’s full details also shows its open date (when applications begin) and an apply link so you can go straight to the funder’s application page.
You can switch between Cards and Table views, search by keyword using the search box, and sort results by Match, Amount, or Deadline.
Understanding your match score
For grants in your matched tabs (Open, Upcoming, Saved, Dismissed, All My Grants), Grantboost assigns a match label:
- Strong Match
- Good Match
- Weak Match
- Not Scored
Many matched grants also include a short “Why it fits” note explaining, in plain language, why Grantboost thinks this grant is a good fit for your project. The Browse Grant Database tab doesn’t show match scores, since those grants haven’t been evaluated against your profile.
Viewing full grant details
Click any grant card or table row to open its full details, including the complete description, the “Why this is a good fit for your project” explanation (when available), and buttons to Save for Later, Search on Google, View Application, or mark the grant Not Relevant.
